The Wolfman
Using the setting of 1880, this movie tells about Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) who returns from his long journey to stay with his father (Hopkins). Previously Talbot left his hometown to forget his grief after his mother passed away. Talbot agreed to come back to Blackmore after his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Blunt), convinced Talbot and asked him to join with the search mission to find his missing brother.
When Talbot joins with the mission, he realizes that there is a great power and thirst for blood leads to the death of the villagers. Even it pushes the Scotland Yard veteran, Aberline (Weaving), to come and investigate the mysterious death of some villagers.
Talbot tries to combine missing pieces of mystery which can help him solving this case. Finally Talbot reveals an ancient curse that can cause someone who is affected changes into werewolf when the full moon arrives. Now the woman who he loves is in danger, with all his strength Talbot tries to destroy the beasts before they kill her and attack the other villagers. But along with his hunt, Talbot reveals his dark past that will uncover his wild side. Something that he never realized has been existed in his soul.
This movie is the latest remake of a classic movie with same title that was released in 1941. At that time Lon Chaney Jr. was able to frighten the audience and brought wolfman as one of Hollywood’s classic beasts.
If seen from the actors and some people who involved behind the scenes, it can be predicted if this movie has big potential to achieve great success. Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving are some big names that can guarantee if this movie has high quality.
