After his father died, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf) becomes a teenager who likes to make problems. Through SMS he makes some disturbances, and because of that, the court punishes him with three months house arrest. He has to stay at home and can’t enjoy any entertainment.
That punishment makes him feels suffer and bored. To eliminate the bored, Kale uses his telescope to spy on his neighbors activities, including the sexy girl named Ashley (Sarah Roemer), his new neighbor. With his ‘new activity’ Kale finds enjoyment, apart from could see interesting matters, Kale’s imagination is also playing inside.
One day Kale sees strange activity in one of his neighbor’s house; he sees a woman in danger and asks for help in Mr. Turner’s house. Kale tries to go to that house, but the alarm in his leg precisely makes the police come and arrests him. Kale tries to explain what was happened in that house but unfortunately no one believes him, including his mother.
At the following day Kale reads news about a missing woman, evidently the woman on that newspaper is a woman who he saw in Mr. Turner’s house. Of course Kale suspects Mr. Turner (David Morse) who kidnaps and may be kills that woman, but he doesn’t have any evident to proof the truth.
Then with his friends, Ronnie and Ashley, Kale tries to make some investigations against Mr. Turner. From Kale’s room, they try to use some technology to find proofs that could be used to arrest Mr. Turner. Unfortunately Kale doesn’t realize if he is facing a dangerous person more than he thought before. His investigations not only bring him in danger, but also threaten the life of his friends and mother.
